About Us
Leche Matcha was created by Valeria and Miky as an extension of ritual and community. What started as a slow morning ritual, became something they wanted to share with others.
Valeria has been drinking matcha since 2018, but in 2022, after deciding to completely cut out coffee due to chronic illness, matcha became more than just a fun drink. It slowly turned into a morning ritual. She began collecting tools, learning different preparation methods, and sharing her drinks on social media.
The idea for a matcha latte pop up came naturally after the pair returned from Japan with an abundance of matcha powder and started making drinks for friends and family through small pop ups. Their very first pop up was actually a fundraiser, with 100% of proceeds donated to organizations supporting families impacted by ICE raids. From the beginning, the intention behind Leche was always people first.
The name Leche came just as naturally. “Leches” has been Miky’s nickname since middle school after someone misread “Miky” on his backpack as “Milky.” The nickname stuck, translated into Spanish, and became something friends, family, and even teachers called him over the years.
Leche Matcha is not traditional by any means. While the brand moves with intention and always strives to honor the culture and history of matcha with care and respect, it also embraces the evolving and modern experience of it. For Leche, matcha is just as much about connection as it is craft. It’s about creating thoughtful drinks, welcoming spaces, and small moments that bring people together.
